Staff Profiles

Donna Baker, CPA, MBA

Donna Baker, CPA has worked in the accounting field for over 30 years and is the founder of Tax Pro Filers LLC. In addition, she is an Associate Professor of Accounting, Business, and Economics at Adrian College and is the Chair of the MS in Accountancy. She is a member of AICPA, NATP, and the MICPA.  She has also served on the IRS Advisory Committee. She has been a full-time accounting professor for over 30 years.  Mrs. Baker holds an MBA in Professional Accounting/Information Systems from Michigan State University and a BA of Accounting from Siena Heights University. Outside of the firm her focus turns to being a community leader, working to develop a thriving and vibrant community to raise her family. She is relied upon by many advisory boards and committees for input on her vision of what an organization can become in the future. As a devoted wife and mother of seven, she juggles her busy schedule as often as possible to dedicate time to her children’s activities, with particular focus on academic achievements and athletic competitions, she loves cheering on her kids!

Brent Mercer, EA

Brent has been with Tax Pro Filers LLC since 2007.  He specializes in tax and consulting for individuals, partnerships, and corporations.  Brent also has in-depth training and experience in representing clients in front of the Internal Revenue Service.  He adamantly and aggressively represents individuals and businesses with tax controversies in collections, State and Federal Tax audits and appeal.  He is an Enrolled Agent, federally licensed with the Department of Treasury, a member of the Michigan Society of Enrolled Agents, and the National Association of Enrolled Agents.  He has received specialized training with the National Tax Practice Institute (NTPI).  NTPI is the premier representation education institute for attorneys, CPAs, and Enrolled Agents who are seeking instruction on how to best represent taxpayer’s before the Internal Revenue Service.   Brent holds a bachelor of business administration – accounting degree from Siena Heights University.  Brent also is very active in, and serves on the Board of Directors for the Adrian Noon Rotary.  When not in the office you can find Brent, with his wife Monica and children enjoying their time on the lake or one of many other outdoor activities.

Jacob Baker, CPA

Jacob joined Donna Baker & Associates in October of 2021. He specializes in tax and consulting and serves clients in both the Adrian and Blissfield offices. He is a CPA with a Bachelor’s of Science in Accounting Systems from Taylor University as well as a Master’s in Accounting from Adrian College. Jacob worked for Plante Moran, prior to joining his mother’s practice, where he specialized in tax for partnerships and corporations. Jacob grew up in the Adrian area and is active in the community. He is a member of the Young Professionals of Lenawee. Jacob played football at Taylor University and enjoys playing and watching sports. He participates in softball, basketball, bowling, and golf leagues during his spare time.
